An in-depth analysis on the hit single “young forever” by Jay-Z ft Mr Husdon
Are you a fan of hip hop and the legendary hitmaker Jay Z? In 2009 he released his 11th studio album titled “Blue Print 3” and there was a particular track (The last track to be precise) titled young forever featuring Mr Hudson that had the world “on pause”.
I had the song on repeat for a week when it was released and I can remember my younger self singing to the rhythm. 12 years down the line, I still listen to it but the older I get, the more the lyrics become meaningful and the more I connect with it. I will be delving into an in-depth analysis with excerpts from this amazing work of art.
“Let’s dance in style, let’s dance for a while
Heaven can wait, we’re only watching the skies
Hoping for the best but expecting the worst
Are you gonna drop the bomb or not?
Let us die young or let us live forever
We don’t have the power but we never say never
Sitting in a sandpit, life is a short trip
The music’s for the sad man
Forever young, I wanna be forever young
Do you really want to live forever?”
Diamonds are forever! This is about the resilience of mankind. Tomorrow isn’t promised or guaranteed but our gaze isn’t fixed on that. We are more focused on adding value to our community and getting the most of what we can from the present. Fighting for a just cause and our families. A message of hope for a better tomorrow despite whatever circumstances you find yourself in today.
So many adventures of today are given up because most of us worry about things beyond our control. Too conscious of self. Take that risk, start that business, learn a new skill, get that job, live ethically and make rational decisions because we are all fading under the sun and tomorrow will come regardless.
Beautiful music. JayZ rarely dissapoints
