Corona is a contagious virus that is caused by SARS-CoV-2 which was discovered in China. It was a pandemic that caused high date rates and economic recession in the world. The virus can spread from an infected person’s mouth or nose in small liquid particles when they cough, sneeze, speak, sing or breathe. These particles range from larger respiratory droplets to smaller aerosols. You can be infected by breathing in the virus if you are near someone who has COVID-19, or by touching a contaminated surface and then your eyes, nose, or mouth. The virus spreads more easily in crowded settings.

I will be sharing my cousin’s and aunt’s Covid experience.

My Cousin’s Covid experience

She said when she heard about Covid-19, she was the most careful person. She avoided public gatherings, washed her hands regularly, wore a face mask, and always had sanitizer. During the lockdown, she was so bored and decided to apply for a job. she got the job in November 2019, and thankfully after two months of going to the office, still maintaining the Covid-19 safety rules, she started working remotely.

On the 12th of January, 2021 she found it difficult to breathe and walk She also had pains in every part of her body and lost her appetite. She was taken to the hospital and was nebulized.  The next day, she was taken to the isolation center in Yaba for the Covid test and it was going to take 3 days for the result to be out. Later that day, breathing became more difficult, and she was placed on oxygen. Her mother (my aunt), a medical practitioner working in the isolation center in Yaba, already suspected she had Covid and started the treatment immediately.

Three days later, the Covid test result came out positive, and thankfully she had already started treatment at home. She was isolated from everyone at home to prevent the virus from infecting others. Her mother took care of her till she recovered after two weeks.

After she recovered, she was still on some medications for about three months to build her immune system. She never stopped preaching to everyone she came in contact with that Covid was real and they had to stay safe.

Her Mother (My Aunt) also contracted the Covid virus.

Her mother was also a very careful person, she made sure everyone wore masks, had sanitizers, washed their hands regularly, and didn’t go out unless it was important. My aunt is a Nurse and was posted to the ICU section in the isolation center in Yaba. She always had to deal with extreme Covid cases and as a result, was exposed to the virus. In as much as she always wore the proper cover-ups and observed the Covid-19 protocols, the risk of contracting the virus was still high. A few months after she was posted, she contacted the virus. She had to self-isolate and avoided coming home to prevent the virus from spreading. She started medications immediately because she knew what to take. She recovered in no time and when back home after two weeks.
