ART FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Written by Prince Prince Ikwuji · 1 min read >

With evident increases in the complexities of modern realities, and an obviously lackadaisical attitude of today’s politicians towards providing common people access to good living, people need a more understanding, responsible, responsive, and accessible government to care for them. While democracy promises dividends that seem, at best, utopian in most developing nations, manocracy, a human-centric government that regards people over everything just might be the long-awaited true bearer of dividends.

This is so because, unlike democracy that is predominantly driven by party competitions and vested interests, manocracy is driven by a firm desire to create change, value, vigor and legacy, in the spirit of servitude through volunteerism. Flag bearers of this type of government are not democrats, they are “poli-thinkers” — politicians thinking for many and creating platforms for many to think.

As manocrats, we believe the only way forward for developing nations lies in the total commitment of its people’s real resources to community and human development. Our government hopes to impact through the agencies of creativity, innovation and deliberate benevolence.

For democracy to be more effective there must be some sort of interventional, “manocratic” government that caters to basic needs of the people, whilst the “democratic” government focuses on major projects and developments. Manocracy strengthens democracy and closes its inherent lapses, challenging traditional government to perform better.

It is no news that democracy’s gross failure is rooted more in greed than scarcity of resources: An effect of blatant thirst for ill acquisition in the place of real redistribution. Therefore, manocracy’s principal mandate is to curb man’s cupidity, with a redirection from self-destruction towards self-reconstruction.

Of course, there is no shying away from the inevitability of greed; but people must be groomed to understand the world only has enough for everyone’s need, but not enough for everyone’s greed. It is only with the foregoing mentality that humanity can gain control over self and preserve self from greed and its attendant destroyer (corruption).
