Mindset Shift (Career Goals to Personal Growth) #MMBA5

Written by David Oseghare · 1 min read >

It’s week 3, and I’m once again asking myself, “Why am I really here?” After two weeks of diving into my MBA program at Lagos Business School, getting the hang of how it works, and fitting it into my life, I’ve started to question my original reason for being here.

At first, my motivation was straightforward. I decided to pursue an MBA because I thought it was the key to advancing my career. Like many people, I saw it as a way to climb the career ladder, a step towards a better job. It was basically a tool to get to a particular end.

Now, though, as I dig deeper into the program, I’m realizing that my initial reason might not be enough to carry me through the tough work that lies ahead. So, why am I really here?

For the last three days, I’ve been thinking a lot about this question. I’ve come to a conclusion that goes beyond just boosting my career. It’s more significant, more personal, and about transforming myself. I’ve figured out that if I want to become truly exceptional, I need to take on a challenge that pushes me to my limits, makes me grow, and changes me. It’s not just about my career anymore; it’s about rising above mediocrity and becoming extraordinary in what I do. The MBA is the challenge that’s helping me do that.

Wanting to be extraordinary isn’t just a fleeting desire. It’s a deep longing. It’s about the unrelenting pursuit of self-fulfilment, a journey where career growth is just one part of it. It’s about unlocking the potential we all have inside, exploring new things, and becoming the best version of ourselves. This journey needs a challenge that pushes us to be resilient and determined.

The MBA program, with all its subjects, workload, and different tasks, is the opportunity to test myself. It forces me to face my own limits, to go beyond my comfort zone. It encourages me to see the difficulties not as problems but as stepping stones to transform myself.

As I go on this journey, I know it won’t be easy. It’s not just about getting good grades or finishing assignments. It’s a deep dive into who I am, an adventure to find out what I’m really capable of. The MBA program is more than just a certificate; it’s the start of a change that will affect both my personal and professional life.

In the end, being part of this MBA program means more than just wanting a better job. It’s about taking on challenges, pushing my limits, and aiming for exceptional accomplishments. This journey is a proof of how education can have a deep impact, going beyond the classroom and igniting change within us. I’m here not just as a student, but as someone determined to change the ordinary into something extraordinary.

Happiness: A Unique Inside Job!
