EXAMINATION PREPARATION TIPS.

Written by Okechukwu Ohanta · 2 min read >

As we progress with the First Semester Examinations, I will like to share some tips in better preparation for examination. First let’s try to define the term examination. Examination is an inevitable part of academic life, whether it is a school test, college exam or a professional certification, the fear of exams can cause students to experience anxiety and stress. This fear and anxiety can lead to what is commonly known as “examination fever”. However, with the right preparation and mindset, examination fever can be managed effectively. In this blog, we will discuss some strategies for managing examination fever.

  1. Start Early: One of the most important things you can do to manage examination fever is to start preparing for the exam well in advance. Waiting until the last minute to cram everything in can cause a lot of unnecessary stress and anxiety. Instead, make a study plan and start preparing for the exam as early as possible. This will help you to cover all the topics in a timely manner and avoid last-minute panic.
  2. Break it down: Break the syllabus into smaller, manageable sections. This will help you to focus on one section at a time, rather than feeling overwhelmed by the entire syllabus. Use a study timetable and allocate specific time slots for each section. This will ensure that you cover all the topics and are well-prepared for the exam.
  3. Practice, Practice, Practice: Practice makes perfect. The more you practice, the more comfortable you will be with the exam format and the better your chances of success. Try to solve past papers or practice questions related to the exam. This will help you to identify your weaknesses and work on them. It will also help you to build confidence in your abilities.
  4. Avoid Last Minute Cramming: Avoid the temptation to cram everything in at the last minute. This will only lead to more stress and anxiety. Instead, focus on revision and practice. Review the topics you have already studied and practice solving questions related to those topics. This will help to reinforce your understanding and prepare you for the exam.
  5. Take Breaks: It is important to take regular breaks while studying. Studying for long hours without breaks can lead to burnout and decreased productivity. Take short breaks every hour or so to stretch your legs, have a snack or just relax. This will help to refresh your mind and improve your concentration.
  6. Manage your time: Time management is key to managing examination fever. Use a planner or calendar to manage your study time effectively. Allocate specific time slots for each topic and stick to your schedule. This will help you to cover all the topics in a timely manner and avoid last-minute panic.
  7. Stay Positive: A positive attitude can go a long way in managing examination fever. Believe in yourself and your abilities. Stay motivated and focus on your strengths rather than weaknesses. Surround yourself with positive influences, such as supportive friends and family members.

In conclusion, managing examination fever requires a combination of effective study habits, time management skills, and a positive attitude. By starting early, breaking down the syllabus, practicing regularly, avoiding last-minute cramming, taking breaks, managing your time effectively and staying positive, you can manage examination fever and increase your chances of success in exams. Remember, exams are a part of academic life and can be managed effectively with the right mindset and approach.
