The afternoon session of the orientation program continued with various speakers and presentations, covering topics such as leadership, strategy, and entrepreneurship. Despite the initial mishap during lunch, I was fully engaged in the discussions, taking notes and participating in group activities. Sally, Toldo, and I sat together, exchanging ideas and insights during the breaks.

As the day progressed, I realized that my classmates were an incredibly diverse group of professionals from various industries, with extensive experience and knowledge in their respective fields. The discussions were intellectually stimulating, and I was impressed by the level of brilliance and intelligence displayed by my fellow classmates.

During one of the group activities, we were tasked with solving a complex business case study. Sally took the lead, showcasing her strategic thinking and analytical skills. Toldo contributed her expertise in financial management, while I focused on identifying the risks and opportunities. Together, we worked as a cohesive team, leveraging our collective intelligence to come up with a well-thought-out solution.

As the day came to an end, I reflected on the distinction between brilliance and intelligence that Jibola and I had debated many years ago. Sally’s brilliance was evident in her quick thinking and ability to articulate her ideas, while Toldo’s intelligence shone through her analytical approach and financial acumen. I realized that brilliance and intelligence were not mutually exclusive but rather complemented each other, and my classmates exemplified this in different ways.

As we left the orientation hall, Sally, Toldo, and I walked back to our respective accommodations, discussing the highlights of the day. We laughed about the lunchtime incident, and Sally jokingly commented that it was a memorable icebreaker for our class. We made plans to meet up for a group study session the next day, and I felt grateful to have made such amazing friends on the first day of the program.

The weeks that followed were filled with rigorous coursework, group projects, and networking events. The Executive MBA program at LBS challenged me intellectually and pushed me to expand my horizons. I learned from my classmates’ diverse perspectives and experiences, and I also discovered new strengths within myself. Sally, Toldo, and I became inseparable, supporting each other through the ups and downs of the program.

As the program progressed, I realized that brilliance and intelligence were not just about academic achievements, but also about the ability to apply knowledge in real-world situations, think critically, and collaborate effectively with others. I saw my classmates shine in different ways, leveraging their unique talents and skills to excel in their respective fields. It was a humbling experience that taught me the true meaning of brilliance and intelligence.

As the year came to an end, we celebrated our graduation with a sense of accomplishment and camaraderie. Sally, Toldo, and I stood on the stage, receiving our diplomas with smiles of pride on our faces. Looking back, I realized that the journey at LBS had not only enriched my mind but also transformed me as a person. I had gained not only knowledge but also lifelong friendships and memories that I would cherish forever.

Many years later, as I reminisced about my time at LBS, I remembered the thought-provoking argument I had with Jibola about brilliance and intelligence. I smiled, realizing that my perspective had evolved. I understood that brilliance and intelligence were not mutually exclusive, but rather intertwined, and that true success came from the synergy of both. I was grateful for the lessons I had learned and the friendships I had made, and I carried the wisdom gained from my LBS experience with me throughout my career and life. The end of the Executive MBA program was just the beginning of a new chapter, filled with endless possibilities and opportunities to make a positive impact in the world. With a heart full of gratitude, I eagerly embraced
