My MBA Experience so far

Written by Tolulope Sofela · 1 min read >

The MBA journey has been an exciting experience. It all started with the NMAT test, I had never written one before. The test was challenging, but it was a necessary first step in applying to the MBA program of my choice.

After successfully passing the NMAT test, then comes the physical interview, which was a critical part of the application process. I was anxious and can remember asking the contact person various questions.  During the interview, I was asked several questions about my background, work experience, and motivation for pursuing an MBA. It was an experience, but I felt that I was able to express my enthusiasm for the program and my commitment to my goals. Then I waited for the outcome of the interview as I kept calling and texting for admission letter, I recollect the LBS contact person telling me to be patience.

During the orientation, the audible thing most of the facilitators echoed was what are your expectations for attending the LBS. Personal development should be one of the many reasons for attending the LBS. As a student networking, business and managerial skill development should be part of the priority.

Fast forward to brush up class which was meant to prepare the students for the MBA program. Interesting courses such as Emotional Intelligence, Time Management , Speed reading , Fundamental of Decision making, Social skills were taken during the sessions. I will like to share some of my learning points in this blog post.

Another interesting course that has helped tremendously is speed reading. The facilitator alluded to the fact that there are so many cases because LBS adopted the case study method of learning and teaching. Read 400 words/minutes, learn to trust my brain.

Overall, the MBA experience has been a positive one, and I am grateful for the opportunity to pursue this degree. The program has provided me with valuable knowledge and skills that I believe will be beneficial in my future career. I have also had the opportunity to meet and network with other professionals from different industry, which has been an enriching experience. While there have been many challenges along the way, I feel that I am growing as a person and as a professional. I look forward to continuing my studies and to seeing where this journey takes me.
