A step towards obtaining an MBA. #MMBA4

Written by Ebelechukwu Nkadi · 1 min read >

Over the years, I had always wished to obtain an MBA at Lagos Business school.

At last, I am taking the first step, and this came with so much joy that I started imagining how I will be taking pictures at the school signage on my graduation Day.

Upon calling the school, I was made to understand, that I was going to be writing a test. Boom! The reality of being a student struck me. A thought of whether to go on this journey enveloped me. My application came late, I had just a day to prepare for the test. I reassured myself with the word of Mohammed Ali “Impossible is nothing.”(as cited in Brown,2008, p.23).

I wrote the test, waiting with high hopes that my result was going to be out in less than 3 days, but nothing was reflecting on the portal. I became sad and worried. When I thought that all hope was lost, the result came out. I passed.  I was so happy. it was indeed a piece of great news. I started planning towards attending the Brush up class.

On the day of the brush-up class, I got dressed and set out for school. It was a day to remember. I  was welcomed in a friendly manner by the Program Manager. I felt loved. I told myself greatly! my dream is becoming a reality. A run-down of the school activities were discussed ranging: from the origin of the school to their achievements as the 41st ranking in the world by the financial times and number 1, in Africa. One thing stood out for me and that was how all the faculty who came to address us were so eloquent with their public speaking and all dressed up as an executive. I admired them. I knew that a lot was going to change from how I dressed to how I spoke. I promised myself, that I was going to be like them one day. I felt fulfilled as I was reassured that the school would give me an opportunity not just to learn but also a platform where I can connect and link up with people who can mentor me.

Time for breakfast came and we all moved down to the cafeteria. I kept hearing this slogan “Enjoy.” I promised myself that I was going to enjoy my free breakfast and lunch. I did enjoy the meal. I looked forward to the next class not just because of the meal but for the knowledge I had gained.

It was a great experience as I went in search of books on how to boost my public speaking and writing after the brush-up class. I picked up a book from the library “Influence and thrive “written by Lucille Ossai. This book has helped me. I know a day will come when I will fulfill my dream of being an MBA holder. These days, I do not hesitate to tell anyone who cares to know, that I am a student of Lagos Business School.
