Planning communication

When planning your communication, analysing the situation and organising your message often delivers better results. 

When analysing a Communication situation, you consider:

  1. Why- Knowing your purpose
  2. Who- Knowing your audience
  3. How- Using reason in the message

There are 2 types of Communication- Informative and Persuasive Communication


INFORMATIVEPERSUASIVE
WHYWhat is the importance of the Communication? What specific information gap do i want to fill?What is the importance of the information? What do I want the audience to think, feel and do?
WHOWho is my audience? What do audience members know about the topic? Do they have any biases?Who is my audience? What do audience members know about the topic? Do they have any biases?
HOWHow do the audience members feel about my purpose? What audience feelings can help me achieve my purpose? How can i elicit these feelings?How do the audience members feel about my purpose? What audience feelings can help me achieve my purpose? How can i elicit these feelings?
