My journey into the Lagos Business School is an intriguing one. There was skepticism, whether I should go ahead with the entire process or just focus on building my business. The LBS marketing team were instrumental to my final decision. They are excellent at what they do as I got several follow up calls. We had lengthy, professional, and friendly conversations like we had known each other for long prior to my application. This gave me the feel that I was already a member of the Business School community.
The LBS Entrance Examination were in 3 components. The Essay, Quantitative reasoning/and Comprehension. I attend to this and look forward to the next stage. The next stage of the admissions process was the interview. The call I received gave an assurance that I was still being considered. The questions were from different aspect as life. From an employer’s point of view, employer/employee relationship, what corporate social responsibilities were we offering to our immediate community, how we applied ethics in business and all.
I mentioned a particular case where we were required to re-register as vendor with one of our clients through a third-party organization, the need for us to present some certificates as part of the revalidation exercise. The mentioned the fact that we could have cut corner in getting the required certificates but mentioned to the verifying organization that they were being processed and showed the evidence.
Another intriguing question asked was why I chose Lagos Business School; What impact did I think the institution would have on me and some other questions which queried my role in business. My responses were satisfactory from their body language whilst they promised to give feedback.
I got feedback from the marketing team on the next phase of interview. This was also conducted by another set of interviewers, the stage was a bit tensed compared to the initial interview as every aspect of life, skill (quantitative and qualitative) experience. finally, the panel asked how I was going to fund the school fee which I responded that the I was on sponsorship that my organization was willing to take care of the bill. It ended on a lighter note as one of the interviewers thought I was going to pay the fee as once going by my posture/carriage.
I responded that as a businessperson I was going to utilize the spread payment options given by the institution. I got the feedback that the school was going to get back to me.
I put several calls to the admissions team out of curiosity. I was told that the panel hasn’t decided yet and I jokingly ask the team member to send the admission letter pending the outcome of the admissions board. He smiled.
Finally, after a week or two, I got a called that I have been admitted into the MBA Program. I got the letter, presented it to my organization and payment was made afterwards.
We resumed on the 20th of January 2023. The experience has been interesting, enlightening, and fulfilling so far and I look forward to more wonderful experiences. I will be sharing my classroom experience in the next chapter. Please stayed tuned. #EMBA28
