JAPA TRIGGERS

Written by Oluwaseyi Olatona · 1 min read >

December 12, 2015. He was solitary and unnoticed in the far corner of his packed room, crammed with the raging ideas in his battered mind.

Save my mummified soul, please.

Out of fear, he murmured a little prayer to the universe. He could not even see his hands as he raised them in search of a walking support since everything was naked and hollow.

His eyes were tightly closed as he tried to block out the phobia that was wreaking havoc in his vicinity. Unfortunately for him, the horrifying fantasies of the Waverly Hills Sanatorium are constantly in his mind.

You do not envy his Saturday night situation—I kid you not—and the devil would not dare to do what that son of man set himself up for. Darkness may exist, but what about dark desolation? Who gets that close?

Things worsened when his brother’s dog decided to howl at a woman who was obviously ready for a relationship across the street, but Jo’s mind won’t accept this option. In fact, he won’t consider any other possibilities.

He allowed the “Spirit” to pass while remaining motionless as the Germini finished her howling. The dog ultimately ran out of energy and crawled back into its shell after uttering 100 cries.

Jo attempted to pinch himself to stop the shaking and to make sure he was still alive. This time, he genuinely didn’t care what happened and just sat there anticipating the worst.

Alas! His room’s fan began to spin, sending a gust of steamy air slapping against his face. AMEN NEPA! A beam of light filled the space, illuminating his face. He swore at the woman at the British Embassy for refusing to provide him a visa to leave the country as tears streamed down his cheeks.

Once defeated, twice timid! He stood up and hurried to the wardrobe, picking out his clothes to press for the next day. Tomorrow, he has another interview with the Canadian embassy, and he needs to succeed this time!

Jo is a typical Nigerian who is worn out from the system’s epilepsy. He has made numerous attempts to flee, but his village people and Nigeria instability have thwarted his plans. This time, his pleas were heard by the universe, and his omen took on a new meaning.

If you care, pray for Jo, and remember to include Nigeria in your prayers as well!

Happiness: A Unique Inside Job!
