Tips on how to prepare for examination

Preparing for exams can be very exhausting. One has to consciously combine workloads at the office with school activities which can become very hectic except if one found better ways to manage the stress. Here are some tips to overcome the stress when preparing for examinations.

  1. Group Study: Joining group sessions with fellow classmates can help one in preparing for exam. Collaboration with colleagues to discussed different subjects, ideas and how it can be applied to the exams can be very enriching. This can also enable one to easily ask questions to clarify some of the challenges encountered while reading.
  • Semester Syllabus: It is advisable to understand the semester syllabus and thoroughly cover all the topic in preparation for the exams.
  • Time Management: To balance work, assignments, coursework, and personal life demands. One has to create a schedule to structure their itinerary and allocated enough time to the exam preparation to avoid burnout. This enabled one to effectively plan and attend to all their workload.
  • Effective Sleep and exercise: Due to the rigorous reading and working activities that one engaged in, it is necessary to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Adequate exercise, good nutrition and good sleep will not only rejuvenate the mind but also relax the body from excessive stress that it may have encountered.
  • Read on time: One of the things that stresses student is when materials that were supposed to be read before exams are kept till the time of exams and it becomes stressful to combine everything at once to read. This will mount serious pressure and confusion on student as to where to start reading from. It is advisable to read before exam to lessen the burden that may arise during exams preparations.
  • Create time to relax: Taking short breaks and unwinding with friend and family does not only enable one to relax or know what is happening around then but to also meet with friends, attend to family and personal issue in other to create work life balance.
  • Revision approaches: It is advisable to review all relevant textbooks, class recording, faculty notes, and write up from your books and summarized key ideas in your own understanding for seamless approach to the exam’s questions.
  • Note taking: Effective note taking strategy during classes is a faster way to gain comprehension and it enable you to easily read through in preparation for the exams. The collection of different notes enables one to have a comprehensive study material along sides with other textbooks in preparation for the exam.
  • Stay Determined: Due to the intense school activities while preparing for exams, one would want to give up on the program as there is no time to focus on just the exams alone, as one had to attend to brush up classes for the next semester which also give raise to assignments. However, it is advisable to stay calm and set a realistic target to achieve the set objectives.

Consistent implementation of this steps before and during exams can assist student successful manage the stressful that comes with the examinations.
