As I found myself seated among my colleagues in the syndicate room at the Lagos Business School, a fascinating encounter unfolded when a fellow student from the MEMBA faction approached us, asserting that the room was exclusively designated for her group. Intrigued by the notion that each group at LBS had its own syndicate room, I engaged her in conversation to unravel the unique dynamics of this setup.
Expressing my admiration for the concept, I couldn’t help but exclaim, “It must be delightful to have a dedicated syndicate room for your group. Which group is this?” The response came swiftly – Group 2 of the MEMBA 12. Seizing the opportunity, I proposed the idea of joining forces to learn from their group project. To my surprise, she welcomed the idea, stating, “If it won’t be a disturbance to us, then why not?” Subsequently, she provided insights into their project, highlighting what distinguished the MEMBA faction from the MMBA.
In a light-hearted suggestion, I proposed that they explore the syndicate rooms on the higher floors, emphasizing the potential benefits. This led to laughter and a unanimous agreement to venture into the elevated spaces.
As the day progressed, the universal call for sustenance beckoned us to the cafeteria. Eager to satiate our hunger, we discovered that the LBS schedule adhered to specific times for breakfast and lunch, where meals were served on a self-serve basis. Undeterred by the timing, we retreated to the gazebo, a serene sit-out nestled in one of the expansive courtyards of the LBS complex. While the snacks were satisfying, it was the architectural splendor and aesthetic allure of the environment that truly captivated me, prompting a contemplation of it as a form of art.
Having replenished our energy at the gazebo, we regrouped in the syndicate rooms to delve into the remaining classes for the day. The overall experience at the LBS complex left an indelible mark, and I resolved to make it a deliberate intention to physically visit the campus more frequently.
