‘The world is a place of unending learning’, he said, looking at the entire class of over fifty five children of about 12 years old average age. I was very surprised at Mr. Kunle’s statement that day because It was not what I really want to hear at that point in life considering that learning was becoming boring to me already. It was my first day in secondary school at Army Day Secondary School Bori Camp in Port Harcourt, filled with excitement, I was happy to be in School, not for the learning, but for the bragging right that I was in secondary school already.
It is understandable for me to know that I have to learn but to learn for a lifetime is quite unpleasant to the ear as a young man. Growing up I discovered this was an unavoidable process I have to go through in life. in all of life’s learning journey, I have come to realize that most times, we learn without truly knowing how to apply these knowledge and put it to use, but we learn all the same.
In my first day at Lagos Business School, precisely my second lecture, Data Analytics was the course of study introduced by the lecturer and surprisingly I have no clue what its about until the day. during the class session, we where asked to open an excel file and start working on it. I never knew how to use an excel application until that day.
‘What will I do with this knowledge of Data Analysis’? I asked myself. It was a three hours and thirty minutes session of endurance and amazement the way data was used in a completely different and easy manner. But still not sure how I can apply this new found knowledge until a month later, at the office, I discover that now I know how to apply what I just learnt about a month ago. Most times, we truly do not know until we learn.
