My LBS experience

Written by Emeka Oguchi · 2 min read >

My decision to pursue further education at the Lagos Business School was not accidental but a deliberate choice driven by my desire to excel in my business endeavors. As someone who entered the business world without the traditional experience of a structured work environment or formal mentorship, I recognized the need to work tirelessly in order to develop myself and thrive.

In 2015, I took a significant step towards enhancing my business acumen by enrolling in the Owner Management Program (OMP) at the Lagos Business School. This immersive six-month program provided me with invaluable insights into business management, enabling me to expand my knowledge and forge meaningful connections. Throughout the OMP, I delved into various facets of the business world and gained a deeper understanding of best practices.

While the OMP was undeniably informative, I still yearned for more. I desired a program that would offer greater intensity and depth, fueling my ambition to earn a master’s degree from a renowned institution like the Lagos Business School. However, due to the demanding nature of my role as the Group CEO of my firm, it took considerable time and introspection before I committed to enrolling in this year’s Executive MBA program.

Fully aware of the challenges that lay ahead, I knew that embarking on this journey would not be easy in any way. The executive MBA program demanded exceptional dedication as it was designed to complement the responsibilities of senior executives like myself. With a perpetually packed schedule, juggling numerous commitments and overseeing the operations of my company, I knew that pursuing personal and professional growth would require sacrificing my time and energy. Nevertheless, my determination to excel and push my boundaries fueled my resolve to undertake this endeavor.

I chose the executive MBA program at the Lagos Business School because I knew it would equip me with advanced knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to enhance my leadership abilities, broaden my understanding of business strategy, and navigate the ever-evolving corporate landscape. Additionally, I was drawn to the program’s diverse cohort and the opportunity to learn from experienced faculty members. I recognized the immense value of being part of a collaborative and supportive learning environment, where I could leverage the varied perspectives and expertise of my peers.

I understood that my journey towards earning an executive MBA from the Lagos Business School would be challenging, requiring immense commitment, sacrifice, and perseverance. However, I firmly believed that the substantial investment in my education would yield remarkable returns, allowing me to make a greater impact within my organization and the wider business community.

As I embark on this transformative experience, I am prepared to face the challenges and demands that lie ahead. I am committed to fully immersing myself in the curriculum, engaging with my peers, and seizing every opportunity for personal and professional growth. By embracing the rigors of the program and diligently applying the knowledge and insights gained, I am confident that I will emerge as a more accomplished and impactful business leader, equipped to navigate the complexities of the modern business world.

In conclusion, my decision to pursue further education at the Lagos Business School is a reflection of my deliberate and purposeful pursuit of personal and professional development. Driven by determination, ambition, and a quest for knowledge, I am ready to take on the challenges and capitalize on the rewards that await me on this remarkable journey.
