#MEMBA12: SECOND INTENSIVE WEEK AT LBS

Attending LBS is an enriching experience that provides students with a comprehensive understanding of various aspects of the corporate world. Throughout the second intensive week at LBS, I have had the opportunity to participate in learning sessions that have contributed to my personal and professional growth. These sessions have not only enhanced my knowledge but I have also begun to apply the lessons to enhance my skills, build networks, and gain practical insights into the business world from different perspectives.

One of the most valuable experiences during learning sessions at LBS is the opportunity to learn from experienced professors and industry professionals which so far been the case. The tutors at LBS are renowned experts in their fields, and their lectures are tailored to provide in-depth knowledge and practical examples. The interactive nature of these sessions allows students to ask questions, engage in discussions, and gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter. Moreover, guest lectures by industry professionals offer real-world perspectives and insights, providing a bridge between theoretical concepts and their application in the business world.

Another significant experience during the intensive week was the opportunity for group work and collaborative learning. LBS emphasizes teamwork and encourage students to work together on projects, case studies, and presentations. These group activities foster effective communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Collaborating with diverse individuals from different backgrounds and cultures also enhances cross-cultural understanding and promotes a global perspective.

Furthermore, the learning sessions at LBS provide a platform for students to apply theoretical concepts in practical scenarios. Case studies, simulations and educational videos are frequently used to simulate real-life business situations. During the second week, some of the case studies worked on by the groups include MMBC, Ace Automotive, Clean Spritz and the Capstone Project which involved in – depth analysis of the financial statements of quoted companies in the Nigerian Capital Market. These activities challenge students to analyze complex problems, make strategic decisions, and develop critical thinking skills. The feedback and discussions that follow these activities enable students to reflect on their decision-making processes, learn from their mistakes, and refine their problem-solving abilities.

In addition to academic learning, LBS often organize workshops, conferences, and seminars that expose students to current trends, challenges, and opportunities in the business world. These events feature renowned speakers, industry experts, and successful entrepreneurs who share their experiences and offer valuable insights. Attending such sessions not only broadens students’ knowledge but also inspires and motivates them to explore innovative ideas and pursue entrepreneurial ventures.

I am confident that the learning sessions at LBS will continue to provide a conducive environment for networking and building professional relationships. Future engagements with classmates, professors, and industry professionals will allow students to expand their professional network, which can be incredibly beneficial in their future careers. I look forward to organized networking events, alumni gatherings, and career fairs, which will provide students with opportunities to connect with potential employers, mentors, and like-minded individuals.

The application of learnings at LBS will foster personal growth and self-development. The rigorous academic curriculum, along with the challenges faced in group projects and presentations, will instill discipline, time management, and resilience. Students will learn, as the days go by, to balance academic commitments, extracurricular activities, and personal life, which prepares them for the demanding nature of the business world.
