Data Analytics involves examining, interpreting and deriving meaningful insights from large sets of complex data. Sometimes this data must first be cleaned before anyone can even make sense of them; data analysis help individuals and organizations to make informed decisions, optimize processes and identify potential opportunities and risks which can help them gain a competitive edge.
In my line of work as a global mobility manager, data analytics has help in the following areas:
- Talent Management and Workforce planning: By analyzing demographics, skills, performance and mobility patterns, I am better able to meet my clients talent needs and put the right talent in the right roles, almost all the time.
- Compliance Management: International operations and cross-border mobility come with legal and compliance challenges. By analyzing data relating to visa requirements, immigration trends, data analytics has helped me to monitor compliance with relevant immigration laws, regulations and policies across different countries.
- Expatriate Experience and Satisfaction: While this is not something I have started using, I see the potential of data analytics being used to measure and improve the expatriate experience. By collecting and analyzing data related to expatriate feedback quality of living metrics, and performance indicators, organizations can identify areas of improvement and develop strategies to enhance expatriate satisfaction, resulting in higher retention rates and improved performance.
As I continue to unravel the dimensions all I’ve learnt in the data analytics class can take me, I look forward to with even more than excitement at all the other courses can help me achieve at my workplace and beyond.
