It was been a perfect life so far, maybe almost perfect, until I came across a friend who brought news about a very competent and excellent business school here in Nigeria. At first instance, it seems almost impossible to be true, yet a little more probing shows there is something interesting about his point. Quickly I rushed to my desk and with a push of a button, my laptop was on.’ Wow’, I exclaimed,’ is this real?’, I asked myself. Looking at the screen of my laptop in shock as I read through the pages of the brochure of the prestigious Lagos Business School. Unknowing to me, I have spent over 32 minutes reading through the lines of all the pages of the brochure.
In my own world, it has been perfect for me until the day I step foot on Lagos Business School premises. It was a mild Saturday morning about 8am, I approached the school gate with a great smile on my face hoping to make a seemingly perfect life even more perfect by adding an MBA from such a prestigious and renowned school to my collection of degree. It was such a lovely environment filled with admirable vegetation, well landscaped and indeed a place of class only for the high flying corporate executives of the business world. I approached my lecture hall with all enthusiasm hoping to have business as usual but it was completely a different scenario in Lagos Business School.
My first lecture, Corporate Financial Accounting, was just before me steering at me straight in the eye. I was completely empty as I could not participate or contribute a thing in the entire lecture period. All I did was listen and pray that the lecturer does not call me up or ask me a question because I had almost nothing to contribute. With almost zero knowledge in Accounting, I really needed a push in the area of Accounting. At last the class was over after almost four hours of torture, then came the second lecturer, Data Analysis. Am I in the right place?, should I stay or go?
