It is dusk! What was the day about?

We had our final class in Corporate Financial Accounting yesterday, and it was indeed an emotional moment. Although we would meet him again in our second semester, under a different course, it was still a seemingly sad experience letting him go for the period. He had indeed carved his name in our hearts. I make bold to say he is the best lecturer so far.

Enough with the emotional wailing, what was the last class all about? We had some review questions which spoke to the bulk of work we did during the semester. The questions were structured such that each student needed to answer a question. This was very crucial as we were able to kill two birds with one stone. First, we completely reviewed the details of the course. Second, we were able to earn participation points for those who had slacked during the course of the program.

Nonetheless, we considered the forthcoming examinations. We were admonished to keep the tension low and our health in check. It is easy to fall into anxiety as the examinations draw near considering the volume of work to be revised and the amount paid for the program. “You all did well and are worth your onions. Focus on the class works that were given and study the materials”. This was the admonition of the professor to us as he drew the curtain to a close.

Now, I look forward the examinations and I am confident that I would scale through. The examinations would be centered on what was taught and not from free space. It is just there to confirm that we have obtained value for the money we paid.

As I look back to review myself, considering who I am now and who I was before this class, I have noticed a great improvement. Now, I can boldly analyze financial statements and invest wisely in the stock market. Asides that, I can now read my company’s financial statements for the year and make sense out of it. Looking at the books, I can tell if the company is facing liquidity or solvency issues and begin to plot my escape plan. Now, this may sound selfish but it is what it is. I mean if they could hire someone cheaper to do my job, they would, right?

Jokes asides it has been twenty-two sessions of pure value. One thousand, six hundred and fifty hours of highly impactful teaching that has forged me into the person I am today. Kudos to the lecturer for his patience when dealing with us. I mean managing a diverse class ranging from high end entrepreneurs to employees of massive corporations, it takes great skill to do that. Nature will not forgive me if I forget our program manager, the man who sailed with us from day one till the end, pleading our cause. When network challenges occurred, he stood his ground ensuring second chances were given and due attendance captured for all classes. For this, I am grateful.

To conclude, it was a wonderful session and I have zero regrets passing through this course.
