This is a saying with so much weight and deep meaning.

Here are popular quotes: Emily Dickinson once said, “If you take care of the small things, the big things take care of themselves.”

We all have so many blessings in our lives.

And yet most of the time we fail to notice them. We don’t recognize them properly, forget them, or simply take them for granted.

We lose sight of them, and that’s a critical mistake.

These little things have a huge impact on our lives. That’s why we should learn to recognize their value.

But wait, what does that mean? Why should I care for little things instead of the big things?

Hence it is important to appreciate those little things in life which helps us focus our attention on what nurtures and sustains us in life. On everything that brings us even the smallest amount of pleasure.

It also means practicing gratitude by noticing these everyday things that we take for granted so easily.

By appreciating small things in life, it would not stop bad stuff from happening. But we would learn how to stop emphasizing the meaning of bad events to our life.

Bigger Is Not Always Better

I encourage all my friends and family to think big and have a greater vision for themselves and the world.

But to achieve great things we must start small, and we have to start with ourselves.

It was Napoleon who said “The only conquests which are permanent and leave no regrets are our conquests over ourselves.

What small step can you take today that will help you gain momentum and lead you to a bigger outcome?

The Day You Succeed (Or Hit Rock Bottom)

Think about your favorite celebrity that you look up to.

Do you think they achieved celebrity status overnight?

Of course not!

They took care of the little things (that matter) in a consistent manner which led them to bigger things.

The Little Things You Can Do Every day to Win the Day

The little things do not take that much time but make all the difference in the long term.

Here are some little things you can do every day to improve your life and be a little bit better than yesterday:

  • Working out for at least 30 minutes.
  • Meditating at least 15mins speaking internally with your creator and thereafter having moments of silence where you can organize your thoughts.
  • Daily affirmations or encouraging words you tell yourself to achieve your goals.
  • Minimizing the in-take of those things you like some much. Eg Sugar etc.
  • Writing/Blogging 500 words
  • Speaking with your parents or loved ones atleast for few minutes.
  • Drawing up your list of TO-DOS and ensuring you follow them to the latter
  • Read positive thoughts and ideas to improve yourself for at least 30 minutes.

These and many other little things, if done daily, can make all the difference.

I am not writing about this because I’m immune to it and I am over taking care the little things.

I am writing about it as a reminder to you and me that everyday matters and that taking care of the little things in a consistent way is what makes all the difference.

Start doing what is necessary; then do what is possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible. -St. Francis of Assisi
