For me, losing my friend was a shock. We are so young yet life so old and experienced in its grasp of taking. Yes, life gives but we move in denial till it takes. To honor the life of my friend, this ode is apt

Oh, my dear friend, you left us so soon,

Leaving us with hearts that are heavy and gloom.

We miss you dearly, every day and night,

Wishing you were still here, in our sight.

You were more than just a friend to me,

A brother, a confidant, someone to see.

Your smile, your laugh, your kind heart,

Will remain with us, even though we’re apart.

Memories of you flood our minds,

Of the good times we had, the happy times.

Your presence was a light that shone so bright,

And now it’s gone, we feel the absence of light.

But we know you’re in a better place,

Free from pain, and in God’s embrace.

You’ll always hold a special place in our hearts,

As we remember you, our beloved friend, forevermore.

Rest in peace, dear friend Smart, until we meet again,

We love you, we miss you, and we’ll never forget you, amen.
