As an MBA student at Lagos Business School, one of my courses gave me the chance to learn about data analytics. At first, I didn’t know anything about data analytics, but as soon as we got started, I was interested . We started out with simple Excel and then moved on to functions and formulas that were more complicated. We moved on to probability, linear programming, correlation, and regression as the study went on. Even though probability and correlation were pretty easy for me to understand, regression was harder.
Even though it was hard at first, my interest in data analytics has kept me wanting to learn more. I’ve learned that data analytics is a powerful tool that can be used to solve problems in many different fields. Excel has been my main tool for data analysis, and I’ve found that it can do a lot of different things. Because the programme has functions and formulas, I can analyze data and look at it in different ways. For example, I’ve used Excel to make pivot tables, which have helped me summarize big datasets and find patterns and trends.
Moving on to probability, I found that it helped me understand how likely it is that something will happen. This was important because it helped me use the information I had to make choices that I felt good about. I also learned about linear programming, which helped me make business processes more efficient and find the best ways to solve problems.
The correlation and regression analyses were more difficult, but I am resolved to become proficient in them. These subjects call for a more in-depth knowledge of statistics, as well as an advanced comprehension of programming languages like R and Python. To complement the work I’ve been doing in class and to deepen my grasp of the material, I’ve been using various internet resources, such as videos on YouTube and other credible online sources .
In spite of the obstacles, I have liked every single step of my journey so far in the field of data analytics. My eyes have been opened, and I’ve been given the opportunity to apply the things I’ve learned to actual issues that people face in the real world. For instance, I have analysed the behaviour of customers using data analytics in order to locate areas in which we could enhance the quality of our services.
I can say that my path through data analytics has been both a fascinating and gratifying experience. It has not only presented me with new chances and doors, but also helped me gain a deeper grasp of the function that data analytics plays in the process of making business decisions. I am eager to continue gaining knowledge and developing my talents in this area, and I have high hopes of using those to make a meaningful contribution in the years to come.
As we do joke in class , we have paid 7.2 to come thus far , we need to maximize the opportunity and learn as much as we can , yet the data analytics class is another good evidence that 7.2 investment was worth it .
