As a student in an MBA program, I had the opportunity to start a blog as part of a class assignment. Here is a brief account of my experience as a first-time blogger in an MBA class.
Choosing a Topic
The first step in starting my blog was to choose a topic that would be relevant to my classmates on three of topics being taught for semester and the broader business community. Asides these topics, I decided to focus Accounting related feeds as an accountant and Global politics, as these were areas of interest for me and aligned with the curriculum of the MBA program.
Creating Content
Creating content for my blog was both exciting and challenging. I wanted to make sure that my writing was informative and insightful, while also engaging and accessible to a wide audience. I spent hours researching and writing my first few blog posts, trying to find the right tone and voice for my writing.
Receiving Feedback
As I published my blog posts, I received feedback from my classmates and some friends who I shared the blog with. Some feedback was positive and encouraging, while other feedback was critical and highlighted areas for improvement. I learned to take both types of feedback with an open mind and use them to improve my content and writing.
Networking with Other Bloggers
As part of the assignment, we were encouraged to network with other bloggers in our niche and engage with their content. This was a valuable opportunity to connect with other students and professionals in the business world, as well as to learn from their experiences and insights.
Challenges
As with any new venture, I faced some challenges as a first-time blogger in an MBA class. One of the biggest challenges was finding the time to consistently create content while also managing other coursework, work and family related and responsibilities. Additionally, I struggled with imposter syndrome, wondering if my writing was good enough or if anyone was actually reading my blog.
Lessons Learned
Overall, my experience as a first-time blogger in an MBA class was a valuable learning experience. I discovered the importance of creating content that is both informative and engaging, as well as the value of networking and engaging with other bloggers in my niche. Additionally, I learned the importance of taking feedback with an open mind and using it to improve my writing and content.
Moving Forward
As I continue my journey as a blogger, I plan to continue focusing on Business and Global politics, while also exploring new topics and themes. I also plan to network with other bloggers and professionals in the business world, as well as to refine my writing skills and voice.
In conclusion, starting a blog as part of an MBA class was a challenging and rewarding experience. It required me to step out of my comfort zone and put myself out there in a new way. While there were certainly challenges along the way, I learned valuable lessons and discovered new opportunities for growth and creativity.
