My trip to Egypt: A tourist delight

Written by Chinenye Mgbemere · 1 min read >

My trip to Egypt was an incredible adventure filled with rich history, fascinating culture, and breathtaking sights and sounds.

A brief background of Egypt:  Egypt is a country located in North Africa with a population of over 100 million people, making it the most populous country in the Arab world and the third-most populous country in Africa. Its capital and largest city is Cairo.

Let me take you through the highlights of my experience:

The Bustling cities: My first stop was at the bustling city of Cairo which is the capital of Egypt and a vibrant metropolis that boasts a mix of ancient and modern architecture. I had a pleasant taste of the local cuisine such as “koshari” (a mix of rice, lentils, and pasta), “ful medames” (stewed fava beans), and shawarma (roasted meat in pita bread).

The Eqyptian museum in Cairo also known as “Museum of Egyptian Antiquities“: It is one of the most well-known and significant ancient Egyptian history museums in the world, and it is home to an extensive collection of artifacts, including Tutankhamun’s riches. One of the most famous exhibits is “The Tutankhamun collection”, which includes the pharaoh’s golden death mask, his chariots, and other valuables discovered in his tomb in the Valley of the Kings in Luxor.

The Great Pyramids of Giza: Egypt is home to some of the world’s most famous ancient landmarks, such as the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx, and the Valley of the Kings. During my time at Cairo, I visited the Great Pyramids of Giza, a truly spectacular view while taking a very bumpy camel ride through the desert. It was especially interesting to see how these animals respond to the reflex of the human on it.

Sharm El Sheikh: A popular resort town located on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt and known for its beautiful beaches, clear waters, and rich marine life.

Parasailing over the Landmark Marina – lifted into the air being towed behind a boat while attached to a parachute-like canopy and enjoying a bird’s-eye view of the surrounding landscape.

Deep Sea diving in the Red Sea: This was truly an incredible and unforgettable underwater experience strapped with an oxygen tank and guided by an instructor. It was definitely the highlight of my Egypt experience!

Mount Sinai: This is believed to be the location where Moses received the Ten Commandments from God. We were instructed to come in clothing appropriate for the environment and also stay hydrated due to the extreme heat and dust of this environment.

Soho Market Square: A popular shopping, dining, and entertainment complex located in the Red Sea resort town of Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. The market square imitates a classic European town square with a variety of restaurants, cafes, and bars as well as high-end stores and boutiques.

Overall, Egypt is a fascinating destination that has something for everyone. Whether you are interested in history, culture, or just relaxing on the beach, Egypt would definitely give you a memorable experience.

Happiness: A Unique Inside Job!
