BULLYING

Written by chinyere ihegworo · 1 min read >

We have often heard scenarios where children have come home crying because some kid probably insulted them, called them names or criticized due to their beliefs, shape, color or attitude. This form of character is called bullying. Bullying is the use of force, coercion, hurtful tease or threat to abuse aggressively dominate or to intimidate. For instance, a child could be bullied because he or she is a Christian or a Muslim or they just believe in something different from the others. They will be called names that are not so nice and go home crying to their parents. Bullying has become normalized in the school society nowadays and people just want to make sure they fit in so they like you. It’s a serious situation that even kids at the age of 2 years old start to experience it. There are different ways in which children experience this harsh treatment by their mates.

VERBAL BULLYING: This is a case where a peer or classmate uses words to thoroughly criticize someone. They often insult them or call them names. For example an autistic child could be called stupid just because he can’t concentrate on his studies due to his condition.

CYBER BULLYING: Now that the internet has taken over everything, people have found ways to criticize you or your action online without even knowing. And it allows them to do it anonymously ,meaning they can’t get caught doing it.

PHYSICAL BULLYING: This includes hitting, slapping, beating, fighting and even killing. This could result in serious injuries or blackouts. It has gotten to the extent that pupils start to kill their own classmates and peers for the hatred they have for them.

Bullying can come in all shapes and sizes. I think what the children need is to stand their ground because we are not sure if bullying will completely be eliminated but they need to know where they are from and where they are going.

Happiness: A Unique Inside Job!
