3 Blog Posts A week?

Written by Mayowa Balogun · 1 min read >

This particular requirement has been a thorn in the side of MMBA 4. We have all complained profusely about it (and complained bitterly, I might add). Some people have suggested we do less posts but make the words longer, maybe 1000-1500 words, which is insane. That is not better, at all. Some people just think; given all the work we have to do in other classes and with our personal lives, we shouldn’t have to do this many posts a week. I mean, can the website even handle this much traffic? How many points is this actual requirement worth to the entirety of the class grade? 5%? We have to be critical thinkers and prioritize. I mean, if I forego 5%, I’m still up for 95% and I can better allocate my time to maximizing my utility with the rest of the class work. It’s certainly easier to get class participation points than write 3 blog posts, surely?

I’ve not really had too bad an issue with the blogs. I “enjoy” writing. I’ve been a blogger in the past. What I hate to do is meet a writing target. I especially hate having to come up with things to write about, in fact, it’s why I left writing as a career. I like to write when I want to write, how I want to write and about what I want to right when I feel like it. The mandatory 3 posts a week at 500 words in this class has been a bit of a thorn in my side. I’m sure it’s not hard to tell given this is my 3rd post this week and I started writing the first one at 10:14pm today.

The good thing about it for me is that, within an hour, now that I’ve put my mind to it, I’ve come almost done with my 3rd post for the week and I have about 30 mins to spare. I obviously cannot keep living on the edge with these posts, and I won’t always do it. In fact, I was probably the first one to start blogging. I started the Saturday before the Monday we were supposed to officially start.

I believe I have a good grasp of the English language, writing structure and all that good stuff. Although I should spend more time proof reading, checking my word counter and making sure I’m using the right punctuations. I’ll do all these things eventually, but for now, I just need to write 3 posts a week.

Mr Ohu, you’re gonna have to take what you get from me. At least I’m showing up.
