A match to remember

Written by KELECHI OGBUEHI · 1 min read >

Participating in the inter-cohort football game at Lagos Business School was an exhilarating experience that not only provided a break from our academic rigor but also helped to foster a sense of camaraderie and team spirit among our classmates. The game was between MBA 21 class and EMBA 28, and it ended in a draw with a final score of 2-2. The event was well-attended, with students, staff, and faculty all coming out to support their respective teams.

The football game was an excellent opportunity for us to showcase our athletic abilities and sportsmanship. As we stepped onto the field, we were determined to do our best and make our classmates proud. Playing alongside my classmates was a great way to bond and develop teamwork skills. We were able to communicate effectively on the field, anticipate each other’s moves, and provide support when needed.

The match was filled with a lot of excitement and energy as both teams put up an impressive performance. The MBA 21 class dominated the first half of the game, scoring one goal first to take the lead. However, the EMBA 28 team did not give up and fought back fiercely, equalizing.  Both teams scored one goal each in the second half to level the game. It was a thrilling experience to watch the game as the rest of the class cheered the players on.

Apart from the fun and excitement of the game, participating in sports and fitness activities has numerous benefits. It helps individuals to be well-rounded and healthy, which, in turn, contributes to their overall well-being. Regular exercise helps to maintain good physical health, boosts the immune system, and reduces the risk of chronic illnesses such as obesity, heart disease, and diabetes.

Participating in sports also promotes mental health and improves cognitive function. It helps to reduce stress and anxiety, improves mood, and enhances self-esteem. The sense of accomplishment that comes from setting and achieving fitness goals can also boost confidence and motivate individuals to pursue other goals in life.

Moreover, sports provide an opportunity to develop essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership, communication, and time management. These skills are transferable to other aspects of life, including work, relationships, and personal development. Participating in team sports like football helps to develop these skills in a practical setting, where individuals learn to work together towards a common goal.

In conclusion, participating in the inter-cohort football game was a great way to bring our MBA and EMBA classes together and foster a sense of community and team spirit. The game was not only a fun and exciting experience but also a reminder of the importance of sports and fitness in our lives. Sports and fitness activities contribute significantly to our physical and mental well-being, and participating in team sports like football provides an opportunity to develop essential life skills that can benefit us in various aspects of our lives. I look forward to future events that promote sports and fitness and bring our classes together.
