Written by VICTOR OCHAI · 1 min read >

Corporate financial accounting is a crucial component of any business. It involves keeping track of a company’s financial transactions and creating financial reports for stakeholders such as shareholders, investors, and creditors. For EMBA students, understanding corporate financial accounting is essential for success in the business world.

As an EMBA student with little background in accounting, I have struggled with the course. However, I have come to realise that my struggles have a silver lining. I have found that my increased knowledge of financial accounting has positively impacted my daily activities at work and my decision making.

For example, I am now better equipped to understand financial reports and analyse the financial health of my company. This has allowed me to make more informed decisions and has given me a deeper understanding of how my company operates. Additionally, I have found that my newfound knowledge has given me a competitive edge in the job market, as it is a highly sought-after skill in many industries.

However, I acknowledge that financial accounting is a complex subject that can be daunting for many EMBA students. Despite the benefits, I found it challenging to grasp the accounting concepts on my own. Thankfully, my group members were instrumental in helping me gain a better understanding of the course. They were always willing to explain difficult concepts, provide resources, and give me feedback on assignments. Through their support, I was able to understand the importance of financial accounting and its role in organisational decision-making. This experience taught me the value of teamwork and collaboration, and how working with others can help overcome even the most challenging obstacles.

In conclusion, corporate financial accounting is a critical subject for EMBA students. While it may be challenging, the benefits of mastering this subject are immense. By understanding financial reports and analysing a company’s financial health, EMBA students can make more informed decisions and gain a competitive edge in the job market. As someone who has struggled with financial accounting, I encourage all EMBA students to persevere and seek out additional resources to master this essential subject.
