My Learnings from EMBA

Written by Aminu Ibrahim · 1 min read >

As I sit here reflecting on my EMBA journey, I am filled with a sense of pride and accomplishment. Undertaking an EMBA has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences of my life.

The program has provided me with a depth of knowledge and skills that I never would have gained otherwise. In this article, I would like to share my key takeaways and learnings from the program, and how they have influenced my personal and professional growth.

Firstly, the program has given me a comprehensive understanding of business management. From finance and accounting to marketing and operations, I now have a clear picture of how each business function operates and interacts within an organization. This has allowed me to make strategic decisions based on a holistic view of the business, rather than just focusing on one area. Furthermore, I’ve learned to think critically and analytically, which has enabled me to identify potential risks and come up with innovative solutions to complex problems.

Secondly, the EMBA has helped me develop my leadership skills. The program gave me the opportunity to work closely with a diverse group of individuals from different backgrounds and industries. This experience has taught me to appreciate different perspectives and value diversity, which is a critical skill in today’s global business landscape. In addition, I’ve learned how to effectively communicate, manage conflict, and motivate others. The leadership skills I’ve gained during the program have equipped me to lead teams and drive positive change in my organization.

Thirdly, I’ve learned the importance of networking and building relationships. The EMBA gave me the opportunity to meet and interact with business leaders, industry experts, and peers from different disciplines. This has broadened my perspective and provided me with valuable insights into different businesses and industries. Additionally, I’ve developed a network of contacts that will be instrumental in my personal and professional growth. I learned to leverage my relationships and explore new opportunities from my network.

Lastly, the EMBA program has helped me to become a more well-rounded person. As much as the program improved my business acumen, it also helped me develop my personal character. For instance, time management is now a core skill I have been able to develop. The program requires a significant amount of work, which I had to balance alongside my work and personal life.

This pressured me to develop better time management techniques, which helped me perform better in the program and also apply those skills in my personal and professional life.

Furthermore, the program has pushed me beyond my comfort zone and challenged me to confront weaknesses I may have had. It’s expanded my ability to think creatively and become more adaptable to change. I found that I learned the most when I was pushed to try new things, explore different ideas and gain new perspectives. The exposure to these different thought processes allowed me to think critically about my own values, beliefs and experiences, and instilled confidence in my decision-making abilities.

In conclusion, the EMBA program has had a profound impact on my personal and professional growth. It has improved my business acumen, leadership skills, networking abilities, and time management techniques. Additionally, it has challenged me to confront weaknesses, expand my perspectives and become more adaptable to change.
