I have been in Lagos for so many years now so I can refer to myself as a Lagosian. And every Lagosian has loads of stories to tell. From the early morning struggle to beat the traffic; sweaty Agberos (street boys) with their cat calls, jabs, and abusive words; Unwarranted laws; Debit alerts from taxes; levies; and sanctions— A whole lot of Experiences and Emotions.
Lagos (Eko, Lag, Gidi, or Lasgidi as a form of slang by the younger generation) is home for all. It is one of the most populous cities in Africa with over 15 million inhabitants. Lagos has a vibrant nightlife and plays a huge impact on the music scene and film industry- Nollywood.
Lagos state is made up of five administrative divisions, namely, Ikorodu, Ikeja, Epe, Badagry, and Lagos Island, with Ikeja being the Capital. The five divisions consist of a total of 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
The LCDAs include Agbado/Oke-Odo, Agboyi-Ketu, Ayobo-Ipaja, Bariga, Egbe-Idimu, Ejigbo, Igando-Ikotun, Ikosi-Isheri, Isolo, Mosan-Okunola, Odi Olowo-Ojuwoye, Ojodu, Ojokoro, Onigbongbo and Orile Agege.
I became a Lagosian during my service year in 2009 and it has become home to me since then.
