It was a moment of congratulations on graduating from Coventry University in the United Kingdom with a degree in civil engineering project management. My journey to Coventry University has been an exciting one filled with a lot of hard work and dedication. Leaving my home in Nigeria to pursue a degree in a foreign country was a big decision that requires a lot of courage and determination. What inspired me to study civil engineering project management was my fascination about big structures , sky scrapers etc and I choose Coventry university because its one of the best in the united kingdom.
As I progressed through my studies, I was exposed to a wide range of modules including soil structure interaction , catchment hydrology and hydraulics , geometric and pavement design , financial and asset management , contract management practices and law , global project management practice , construction technology, and sustainable engineering. Global project management practice was the most interesting for me as it discussed in depth the theories and methodologies in project management with particular emphasis in global construction projects.
Studying in a foreign country can be challenging, especially when it comes to adjusting to a new culture and way of life. First it was difficult adjusting to the cold weather and the English culture however I was able to overcome this over time and by wearing appropriate clothing for the weather. One of the biggest challenges that students face when studying abroad is homesickness. I also had the same challenge, and I was going back home after every 6 months. Despite the challenges, studying in the UK also presents many opportunities , learning amongst students who came from all part of the world was exciting and having a certificate of Coventry university would avail me career opportunities in united kingdom construction market .
My degree in civil engineering project management prepares me for a career in a field that is constantly evolving. proper project management is a pressing issue across the globe because many projects run over budget or above schedule, I do hope I would apply my knowledge to the industry and contribute my quota in solving these issues. In addition to technical skills, My degree in civil engineering project management also requires me to have strong project management and leadership skills and part of the module I studied has prepared me for this aspect of your career .
Upon my graduation, reflecting on my accomplishments and thinking about my future plans, my career goals, I plan to work in Uk construction industry to have the experience after which I will go back to my home country in Nigeria to utilize all the experience in making my home country a better p;ave by contributing my quota to the Nigeria’s construction industry .
In conclusion, my graduation from Coventry University in civil engineering project management is an impressive achievement that I am so proud of. My degree has equipped me with the skills and knowledge necessary to make a significant impact in the industry.
