Football is not just a game, it’s a passion that brings people together. For baby boomers like us in the EMBA28 class, it’s even more special as it takes us back to the good old days when we used to play in the streets with our friends. But playing football is not just about nostalgia, it’s also about TEAMWORK. Here’s how teamwork helped us as a team of baby boomers win:
For ease of reference, the EMBA28 team would be referred to as the “baby boomers” while the MBA21 team would be referred to as the “millennials” in my blog below.
The day started out like any other Saturday. The sun was shining, our brains were almost fried out after long classes of analyzing business problems and running regression analysis. But for a group of baby boomers, this Saturday was going to be different. We were going to play a football match against a team of millennials.
As our classes for the day ended, we, the baby boomers were excited. However, nervousness set in as our millennials began trooping in and we compared our pot-bellied EMBA28 team to the MBA21 team who were more agile and disrespectfully showed off their six packs. But we had something that the millennials didn’t have – experience and a beautiful team. We knew that if we worked together, we stood a higher chance of winning the game.
The match started, and it was clear that the millennials were the stronger team. They had better ball control and were able to move around the pitch with ease. But, the baby boomers team was not discouraged. We recognized our challenge but knew that we had to work together and make the most of our experience.
As the game progressed, the baby boomers started to take control. We were passing the ball around with ease and were able to create chances despite our groundbreaking record of intermittent breaks caused by muscle spasms from our baby boomers team. But it was our defense and goalkeeper’s resilience that was the real standout. We were able to keep the millennials at bay and prevent them from scoring.
The EMBA28 class worked as a team, communicated with each other, and supported each other when it was most needed. We used our experience to our advantage and were not intimidated by the disrespectful pride and display of agility from the EMBA21 team.
The match was tied at 1-1 as the second half started. The millennials were getting frustrated as they were not able to score. But the baby boomers in our wisdom knew that we had to remain focused and continue to work as a team.
Finally, in the last few minutes of the game, the baby boomers scored. It was a beautiful team effort, with everyone contributing to the goal. The cheerleading team of the baby boomers strategically gave the much-needed support to the EMBA28 team and proudly danced victoriously at every missed opportunity that the millennials had in scoring a goal. As the game ended, the millennials were shocked, but the baby boomers were elated. We had worked hard and had earned our victory.
As the match ended with a tie of 2-2, the baby boomers were congratulated by the millennials. We played a great game and had shown that age is just a number. We used our experience and teamwork to win the game.
For the baby boomers like us, this victory was not just about winning a football match. It was about coming together as a team and working towards a common goal. It was about showing that we still have what it takes to compete with younger generations. Most importantly, it was about having fun and enjoying the beautiful game of football as a team.
In conclusion, a day has passed after this groundbreaking event. As of this morning of my churning out this blog, about 95% of our baby boomer players would still be in bed recovering from muscle spasms and body aches. Let us not forget the baby boomer cheerleading team who are also suffering from sprained backs and cracked voices.
However, the baby boomers showed that with experience and communication, we are able to work together and achieve our goals. Football was not just a game to us but a passion that brought us together. We had fun and created beautiful memories.
Cheers to #EMBA28 class.
We rock!
