MICROSOFT POWER BI-A CRITICAL TOOL FOR BUSINESS ANALYSES

One of the most interesting courses this semester at the ongoing Executive MBA program at the Lagos Business School has been Data analytics. The most recent topic on data visualization has been an icing on the cake for me because of its applicability to business analytics. Also, as a practicing accountant, the fresh knowledge gained on Power BI, as a critical tool for data visualization gives me a fresh perspective in business analytics.  

Power BI is a unified, scalable platform for self-service and enterprise business intelligence (BI). Connect to and visualize any data, and seamlessly infuse the visuals into the apps you use every day. It Create and share interactive data visualizations across global datacenters, including national clouds to meet your compliance and regulation needs.

Power BI is a powerful tool for business analysis that enables organizations to visualize and analyze their data in a comprehensive and meaningful way. It is a business analytics service by Microsoft that provides interactive visualizations and business intelligence capabilities with an interface simple enough for end users to create their own reports and dashboards.

Power BI provides a range of features that make it a critical tool for business analysis, including:

Data Connectivity: Power BI allows you to connect to a wide range of data sources, including Excel, CSV files, databases, cloud-based services like Azure, Salesforce, and Google Analytics, among others. This provides organizations with the flexibility to connect to and analyze data from various sources, enabling them to gain insights from disparate sources.

Data Preparation: Power BI provides a range of tools for data preparation and cleansing, allowing users to shape and transform their data before it’s loaded into the Power BI model. This makes it easier to work with and analyze data that may be in an unstructured or messy format.
