Imagine a world where mobile phones didn’t exist. Computers, laptops and iPad will all be gone. It’s hard to imagine that especially now that the internet has washed our brains into another dimension. But, just in case, what is this technology that we all talk about. Technology, according to Oxford dictionary, is the application of scientific knowledge for practical. We can almost do the impossible now with technology. Let’s look at some of the many things that technology enhances for us nowadays.
Technology enhances our way of communication. I remember back in those days when we had to use either town criers or pigeons in order to pass a simple message. But now, with little bit of data, we can text everyone and anyone no matter what part of Earth they are. You could call someone in the other side of the world whilst in Nigeria. But unfortunately, certain places in the world don’t have access to these things we enjoy.
Technology saves time. Time efficiency is highly important now and things are automated. You could feel hungry but a little too lazy to cook or to get to a restaurant. You could just call you favorite food place and get the food delivered to you within minutes. Now, that’s what they call real enjoyment.
Imagine, your workroom filled with stacks and stacks of paper containing files, information and data. Every student or working person should suffer from this. But as usual, technology has made life a little easier. You can store all the information, data or files possible all in one flash drive. And it also grants easy access to everything you need.
Technology seems to engage students. Most of the students in schools, say that learning from the internet is easier and less boring than using traditional textbooks and classes. They will always be more interested a live presentation or a video live than a boring history class. Luckily this doesn’t only apply to students but to anyone towards the educational system.
As mentioned earlier, nowadays students are more engaged to tech gadgets than textbooks. Utilizing that, teachers can also use technology to communicate with students without creating a gap. They can conduct presentations in the classroom, prepare online white boards and collect information from online websites or sources.
Technology has greatly impacted the healthcare sector and the production of medicines. Without technology, we would be way behind from where we are standing now. It made almost everything related to the hospitals, ambulance, emergency healthcare, medical stores, medical gadgets, etc. the best they can be.
With all this being said, hope I am able to convince you and not confuse you that there are positive sides to the use of technology. As much as we are able to enjoy the riches of the world, some places don’t have access to this technology. You’d be probably surprised if I told you that certain rural areas still make use the traditional way of communication or transportation.
Now, don’t get me wrong, there is the negativity of technology but that’s a topic for another day.
