According to Google, Cycling strengthens our heart muscles, lowers resting pulse and reduces blood fat levels. The research done, do lay emphasis to shows that people who cycle always do have two to three times less exposure to pollution than car commuters, so their lung function is improved better as one of the major factor .Thus, one of the major reason while I will like to share my cycling journey for a great health benefits that will make cycling more appealing to anyone who care to ride for now or in future.
I was weighing 102kg April, 2021 prior to joining a cycling club known as Cyclotron while my weight dropped momentarily with some other cross exercises such as Golfing, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Walking some few distance at a minimum of 11km weekly. Then, I decide to purchase a professional mountain Bike to start riding every Saturday with member of Cyctron cycling club. Cyclotron have different categories of riders or cyclist : the Categories varies from Group A, Group B, Group C, Group D, Group E with “Distance, Pace and Expertise” based on level of previous riding experience and interest for Saturdays club ride. Group A are strictly Professional riders with 35km/hr Pace at a 92km distance minimum every Saturday, Group B are mixed Professional riders and upgraded Group C members at the pace of 30Km/hr with minimum 82km distance while Group C tends to be mixed jolly riders with pace of 25km/hr and distance coverage of 73km while we have Group D for swift learner that just learn the dynamic of riding professional at the pace of 22km/hr and distance covered at a range of 43km or 57km depending on the strength of the rider and the last Group E is strictly for new members that are new to cycling in which they will ride within the vicinity of a specialized area for several loops not at their convenient pace and choice of loop count respectively.
Eventually, I joined Cyclotron Group D for a pace of 22km/hr and distance of 57km but I was only able to cover 16km being my first time cycling with the club and rack up after climbing different types of hills with limited skills. Hence, my second ride for another Saturday with the club become my discovery by learning the rudiments of cycling and how to change bicycle gears and started deriving the benefits of cycling.
Now, my weight dropped from 102kg to 85kg due to steady cycling while I enjoyed other health benefit based on the aerobic activity that helps my heart, blood vessels and lungs all get a workout. If you join cycling exercise, you will breathe deeper, perspire and experience increased body temperature, which will improve our overall fitness level.
Therefore, most of the health benefits of regular cycling include:
- increased cardiovascular fitness
- increased muscle strength and flexibility
- improved joint mobility
- decreased stress levels
- improved posture and coordination
- strengthened bones
- decreased body fat levels
- prevention or management of disease
- reduced anxiety and depression.
My target is 85kg in order to map my Body Mass index (BMI) for sustainable health and being fit for purposeful healthy living. Therefore, I’ll implore anyone who cares to have a healthy or a fulfil healthy living to join any cycling club that will aid the person an accountability focus group for a weekly ride and enjoy yourself without an unhealthy hindrance. I‘ll look out for such fella on the tarmac…..
