Intensive week at the Lagos business school.

The EMBA 1st semester intensive week is finally over. This normally is part of the schools planned out time table. I tried to figure out how I would cope with the intensive week. Lectures took place from 9am to 4pm daily from Monday to Friday. Knowing fully well that class attendance is as importance as the lectures, missing any class was not an option. Thus, I had to take time off work so as to put in my best.

The week was very hectic and demanding. Lectures were backed up with assignments, group work, individual presentations, as well as group presentations. We had to meet almost every day at group levels to discuss our Analysis of business problems assignments, practice the cooperate financial accounting assignment (the J Prep company), more so prepare for the next day’s classes. I was loosing my mind at this  point and needed an extra push and motivation to pull through, as this for me was something I had long passed through years ago. I could feel the pressure.

Thanks to my wonderful group members who acted as a great source of motivated, I could not have wished for a better group. We encouraged one another all through the entire week. Group assignments and discussions took most of our evenings. Every group session was productive as we were able to read and analyse the various cases mapped out for the week.

The week ended on a good note with the interactive forum with the MBA director of the institution. During the forum, there was a heart-to-heart talk with him. The executive students were able to rub minds with him, stating the challenges been faces by them since the inception of the program. Problems ranging from inability to combine work expectations at the office with the heavy demand of school activities, problems with some courses were also highlighted. He promised to attend to the issues raised as well as getting back to us through our programme facilitator.

Finally, the EMBA28 weekend hang out was timely, it was much needed at this time. Executives came out to unwind as it was not just all about academics. We stayed out till late evening catching up and had discussions outside our school work . In a nutshell the entire learning process I can say is informative and educative.
