Taking an Executive MBA programme is a great way for mid-career professionals to enhance their business knowledge and develop their leadership skills. Executive MBA programs are specifically designed for working professionals who want to continue working while pursuing a degree.
I started my Executive MBA program with Lagos Business School after years of uncertainty about balancing my demanding work schedule with the Master’s program. This is because the nature of my job requires full and hands-on commitment literally round the clock providing advisory services to clients. However, over the years, I realized that to advance in my career as a senior professional, I must advance my education and Lagos Business School was a clear choice when deciding on the preferred institution within Nigeria. This is because the institution aligns with my career goals and interests and also has a strong reputation, experienced faculty, and a curriculum that fits my needs. In addition, I knew I would stand to gain the following benefits when enrolling in the Executive MBA programme.
- Career advancement: The LBS Executive MBA program will help me advance in my career by providing me with the knowledge and skills needed to take on more senior-level roles within my organization or in other companies
- Network Building: Executive MBA programs are attended by professionals from a wide range of industries and backgrounds, which provides opportunities for networking and building relationships that can valuable throughout my career.
- Flexibility: The LBS Executive MBA program is designed to fit into the schedules of working professionals, with classes offered on weekends or in the evenings thus allowing students to continue working while pursuing the degree.
- Personal Growth: Executive MBA programs not only provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in business, but they also help students develop as leaders, improving communication skills, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
I can gladly say that I have been able to experience the above-listed points within the few days of classes so far. However, one of the hassles experienced so far has been trying to catch up on all the missed classes and fully integrate into the class as I joined the programme late due to the program receiving feedback from the admissions teams. Nonetheless, I have tried sacrificing time and effort to catch up, though very intense as this is also the peak period of work in my organization but I believe I will adapt over time.
Another hassle experienced has been trying to get days off from work for the Friday classes and the upcoming intensive week due to the number of projects I am currently handling, however hopeful that this will be sorted soon.
I highly recommend the LBA Executive MBA programme to any senior professional looking to advance his/her career whilst also trying to build a strong network of professionals and hone business skills.
Lest I forget, a major kudos to the coordinator Oluwatoyin Masah for seamlessly coordinating the class of EMBA 28 and ensuring the proper integration of all students into the network
