The power of connection

Written by chinyere ihegworo · 49 sec read >

One of my major takeaways, so far from my experience with Lagos Business school, it is the system of learning in groups. It the builds the capacity to draw from each other’s knowledge, elevating one’s experience and learning process.

This system of learning in groups actually works, it fosters unified learning, supports speed learning and helps the ease the stress attached to the workload. “Self-made is never entirely self-made.” someone will need a hand somewhere along the line. For me learning Accounting, Probability at a high level for the first time, would have been more difficult without the group learning system.

I once heard of a famous mathematician, Uri Treis man by name, who lectured Asians and blacks. He observed that the blacks were not doing well with his course. He decided to observe their method of engagement and realized that the Asians were doing extremely well compared to the blacks, this was not unconnected to their capacity to study in groups. he then insisted on the blacks adopting the same strategy. This led to a key improvement in the outcome of their results.

The support group learning is quite commendable, the learning atmosphere, engagement, exchange of facts, the learning and unlearning helps stimulate the brain and motivate knowledge sharing.

Truly group learning works well, and without a doubt can be introduced as a system of engagement in schools and different learning environment.
