Effective Communication is important for the attainment of numerous objectives. As specified during our lecture on presentation, the following guides should be taken into consideration when embarking on any form of presentation.

Do your homework well by ensuring that you have all the basic and necessary information. You should have a proper understating of your audience and also prepare yourself for whatever opportunity that may arise

Salutation. You should kick start your presentation with greeting. Good morning, Good afternoon, Good evening, or good day is appropriate. Avoid the informal type of salutation. Also always address your audience accordingly, the use of Mr, Mrs, and Miss is proper. Avoid the use of hello, hi,  hey

Good introduction. Introduce yourself and make a captivating opening remark that will get the instant attention of your audience. Sell yourself with your introduction that will make an instant emotional connection. Make your skills known and ensure you state the importance of your academic qualification and experience. It is pertinent to also point out what your audience will gain from you by stating your value proposition and also aligning your vision with the values of your audience.

Desired goal. State your desired goals and channel your presentation into achieving your desired goals. State previous successes’ relevance to your desired goals.

Self-conscious. Be conscious throughout the presentation and don’t get over-familiar with your audience. Be conscious of your choice of words and your pitch. Don’t sound too low and don’t be too loud.

Be time conscious and don’t be anxious about time.

Do not bore your audience with too much technical jargon.

Be confident and demonstrate your knowledge of the subject.

State any common history that exists with your audience and take advantage of it

Avoid reading from a prepared script

State your action point

State any challenges and likely solutions to be proffered

Practice makes perfect. Ensure you make a conscious effort to practice before any presentation

Body language. Use emotional intelligence to evaluate the body language of your audience and at the same time maintain positive body language. Read the body language of your audience and don’t lose your audience. Pay attention to people and to yourself, and try to notice how your audience react. Avoid making negative facial expressions.

Second meeting. Do enough to get a second meeting with your audience. Your presentation should be compelling enough for your audience to want to meet with you again. Never rush to conclusion

Happiness: A Unique Inside Job!
