ELECTION ON MY MIND

Written by chinyere ihegworo · 1 min read >

Today, truly was a remarkable day, the atmosphere was so peaceful in my area, you could sense that a new season had set in. What day am I referring to? the election in NIGERIA. The day set aside for us as a nation to enforce or better still exercise our civil rights.

The turnout was quite impressive, the passion was so intense, you could smell it in the air. Citizens at my polling unit volunteered to coordinate the voting process the voters, a queue was quickly formed, pushing ,was not allowed, protocol breakers were not given a chance. It was extremely organized, not by INEC officials, but by well meaning Nigerians.

To step down the atmosphere ,food was been served along side the voting process. Citizens volunteered to distribute food for free, to serve and encourage voters who were on the long queue. Drinks, water and plenty of love was shared, what was the binding force? a desire, hunger to witness a new NIGERIA.

One of the most touching part of the process, was the man who arrived the polling unit with hot traditionally wrapped moimoi. that one got to me.

Voting started as early as 9.00am , but we stayed still, to get accredited, voted, held on to get our votes counted, waited for INEC officials to upload the results through the BVAS machine. Honestly, I don’t know how the election will turn out, but today marks the turning point in Nigeria’s voting history. we are not joking, we mean business.

A clear statement was made by the show of passion, commitment, personal sponsorship, sacrifice that Nigerians made , to cast their vote. A change is indeed possible , if we truly work towards and insist on the right leaders. voters turnout awesome.

Happiness: A Unique Inside Job!
