My journey so far …

My experience at Lagos Business School so far …

How it all started…

With over 16 years of experience, I feel I have gotten to a point whereby I need to take my career to the next level.

After months of racking my brain on how to achieve this, discussions with my colleagues, role models, and some research, I was convinced that bagging an MBA at Lagos Business School was the next level for me.

I went ahead to liaise with some members of the administrative team at the Lagos Business School, and I must say that they were “client-centric”. They guided me through the registration process with exceptional customer service delivery and I was further convinced that my decision to bag an MBA here was one made in heaven.

Though, there was some delay in providing feedback on my entry into the EMBA program, when it eventually came with the good news I was expecting, my level of pride knew no bounds. In-fact, my shoulders, and nose were so high up that I informed my colleagues that they needed to put some respect in my name when addressing me. I honestly couldn’t wait to start the program.

My first week …

On my first day of induction, I met a very calm environment and properly groomed staff. Being a foodie, I was so sold by lunchtime after tasting the food from the canteen. Little did I know that this was only the beginning …

The program started with a virtual 3-week brush-up program between the hours of 6 pm to 8:15pm daily. For someone that falls within the 9am-5pm employee category, you are yet to recover from the hustle and bustle of work before you find yourself logging into the virtual class. One would think that you could multitask on this and attend classes on your way home. However, it is my belief that our mobile networks in Nigeria are on a mission to ensure that someone cannot be GREAT!

Whilst some classes were not much of a struggle, you do not want to get me started on the Data Analytics (DA) and the Analysis of Business Problem (ABP) classes respectively. Whilst the ABP classes have a tendency to make you analyze your soul and wonder what or who pushed you to make the decision to go for the EMBA class, the Data Analytics classes leave you in a befuddled state from which I am still recovering.

How it is going ….

I was under the illusion that students of the Executive MBA would be treated like “Kings”. This illusion was put in check after my first week …

I remember during our induction class, we were told that the program would be intense. This is a fallacy as I feel the best word to use in describing the program is ferocious!

I am beginning to realize that consistency is required at an individual level followed by your respective group levels to succeed in this program.

I am here to learn, unlearn, re-learn, and network. Despite the challenges being faced, I refuse to be deterred. I have made beautiful partnerships in my group and I am certain that this is the start of a new phase with nothing but beautiful beginnings.

We shall end this victoriously…

@LBS team, watch out for #EMBA28!

Here we come.

Happiness: A Unique Inside Job!
