Climate change has been a big concern facing our planet today. The result of many of our human activities in the last sixty years has brought us here. Finding a solution and implementing strategies has not been so easy because this requires deliberate actions.
CO2 in the atmosphere is at its all time high in over 50 years. This is majorly because of we have been burning so much fossil fuels day in day out. With improvement in technology, there has been various combustion engines to serve various needs. While these engines are running, so much heat is created which stays in the atmosphere.
Our population on the planet especially has been rising at an alarming rate. We are about four times what the global population was barely 20 years ago. Due to this increase, we have been consuming a lot of products from animals and while doing this, we trigger the release of methane. These gases are released into the air and when sunlight gets into the atmosphere, some of the heat gets trapped and the planet starts to get warmer. This is was called the Greenhouse Effect.
This effect is happening at a faster pace than we can imagine and has resulted in drastic situation such has extinction because of loss of natural habitats. We are also faced with massive shortage of food and water around the world as farmlands have been destroyed. With more and more resources being lost, it is very difficult to meet the demands for food and water. As the temperature keeps going up, the sea water is expanding and further destroying more lives and properties.
This global problem brought nations of the world together with a common goal to put a final end to climate change or have it in check. This resulted to the formation of the Paris agreement which serves as a bond between these countries and guides the activities of the people. The point of this agreement was promote good practices and serve as a guide for nations. Unfortunately, shortly after this agreement was formed, countries began to fault. The US then under Trump pulled out of the agreement while some others like China and Russia set minimal targets.
A few nations such as India, Gambia and Morocco have promoted good practices by going big on renewable energy thereby drastically cutting down on their environmental pollution. Some notable progress as regards fight against this climate change is more people are aware of it and basically you cannot even fix what you do not see as a problem.
Since people are more enlightened about this danger facing our planet. and one feasible solution is looking towards renewable energy then we need to promote the use of renewable energy more amongst the people. Though it is a costly process but this would drastically cut down on all the institutions promoting climate change. Countries who have been noted for taking big steps in this direction should encourage the others to do same. It is not an easy step to take but with deliberate actions put in place and changing our everyday routine, we can fix climate change gradually.
