I see the EAGLE as a fearless bird that believes it can hunt down anything. For centuries, people have seen the EAGLE as a symbol of beauty, bravery, courage, honour, pride, determination, and grace. This bird is important and symbolic to humanity because of its characteristics.
The name EAGLE (Ugo) has been used by people from the South Eastern part of Nigeria as a name for individuals, social groups, and titles to symbolize beauty, bravery, grace, honour, and pride.
Like all birds of prey, the EAGLE has very large, hooked beaks for ripping flesh from its prey, strong, muscular legs, and powerful talons. The beak is typically heavier than that of most other birds of prey. The EAGLE’s eyes are extremely powerful.
The EAGLE is a symbol of freedom. Mainly because they have no limits to how far they can fly or even what animals they can hunt. It’s hard to believe, but the EAGLE has been captured attacking animals twice its size. Equipped with exceptional eyesight, coupled with a beak that could cause serious damage and sharp talons with a grip that is ten times stronger than that of a human. It is safe to say that the EAGLE has what it takes to take down just about any animal.
Another powerful trait is the EAGLE’s intelligence. What the EAGLE does is turn the table against perceived enemies. A typical example is how the eagle handles stormy weather. When caught up in fierce weather conditions in flight, it flies so high, higher than the storm. That way it overcomes the storms by flying above them.
The raven is the only bird that dares to peck an EAGLE. It sits on the EAGLE’s back and bites its neck. However, the EAGLE doesn’t respond or fight with a raven. It does not spend time or energy with the raven. In reaction to that action by the raven, the EAGLE takes off in flight and flies to a higher altitude in the sky. The higher the flight, the harder it is for the raven to breathe, and the raven eventually falls off due to lack of oxygen. What an intelligent bird.
Viral videos have shown where this fearless bird attacks animals twice its size. There is one that shows how it preyed on a mountain goat. The plan and execution of the attack were a masterpiece to behold. First, it watches the goats to pick out the one to attack. The EAGLE flies straight to the animal and attacks it and the goat loses balance, and it pulls it off the cliff grabs the goat’s leg and slams it on a rock on its way down. The Eagle followed through to pick up the already dead animal as the goat hits the ground.
Now bringing the story home. A country has the EAGLE standing elegantly atop its coat of arms. With its powerful vision, the EAGLE has a clear view of the capabilities and potential of the country. The question that begs to be answered is how this country can unleash the natural ability of this EAGLE to begin to realize its potential and bring out the character that people see in the fearless EAGLE. The EAGLE on the coat of arms of the country has no limits. It can soar above difficulties; it can overcome its enemies. Aside from the beauty of this country which the EAGLE bear, the EAGLE aloft the coat of arms is brave, courageous, determined, and endowed with grace.
The country referred to here is our dear native land, Nigeria. How do we exhibit all the qualities of the EAGLE that is sitting majestically atop our coat of arms? How do we unleash the EAGLE in us to soar above the storm that comes our way and begin to exhibit that which encapsulates our belief, Unity and Faith, Peace, and Progress?
As a nation, we need to have that great Vision, bravery, courage, honour, pride, and determination to soar to greater heights like the EAGLE. I believe we can. We already have beauty and grace.
As a nation and as individuals, it is not all battles, arguments, or critics that we need to respond to. All we need to do is to lift the standard and they will fall off.
