Murphy’s Law

Osasu Oviawe Written by Osasu Oviawe · 50 sec read >

Murphy’s law is summarized as, “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.”

Such foreknowledge is actually a strength to build on and not a weakness to complain about.

When preparing for anything and a worst case scenario comes up in your mind, prepare for it too.

Preparing for a worst case scenario does not make it come through, but you’ll stand more surely if you are prepared for the worst, even when something worse than the worst comes by.

The way nature works is that it gives you cues on all that is possible – good or bad. It is naive to ignore the downsides and embrace only the upsides.

Flattening your valleys is just as important as raising your peaks.

Is it possible that you will die? Yes. What will make you better prepared for it?

Is it possible that you will get into an accident with your car? Yes. What will make you better prepared for it?

Is it possible that you will get fired from your job? Yes. What will make you better prepared for it?

Having a will, comprehensive car insurance or an alternative source of income does not increase the probability that you will die, get into an accident or get fired respectively, but it can help to manage the fallout of the worst case scenario.

Ensure you plan for the best. Insure your plans against the worst.
