‘’Seeth thou a man diligent in his work? He shall stand before kings and not before mean men’’
This quote is cited from the bible but it is applicable to everyone because it is a universal principle. A diligent man will always stand out.
Diligence; the ability to get things done with careful and persistent work or effort. Let’s take few lessons from some notable examples;
- Usain Bolt
A Jamaican former sprinter, popularly known as the best sprinter in the world. He is an eight-time Olympic gold medalist. It takes a lot of work and persistence to achieve such. Let’s take a dive into the workout principles of the sprinter.
Usain Bolt’s workout routine is extremely consistent, it is executed on a daily basis. He spends a least 90 minutes in the gym every day. He trains for 6 days per week for 11 months, doing workouts to improve his agility, speed and endurance for the Olympic games.
It is worthy to note that he maintains a strict diet schedule. This is done to match his goals and keep his body at a prescribed weight that accords him the best chance to win the world Olympic games.
- Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano trains 5 days of the week for 3-4 hours, which helps him keep his body fat percentage low. He supplements that with several sessions of cardio. Even on his rest days, he goes for a swim or run. His time at the gym has significantly beefed him since his youth at Manchester.
There is no player in world football that has drawn more plaudits for his physical qualities and dedication to his craft than Cristiano Ronaldo. The Man Utd and Portugal star boasts an extraordinary set of athletic skills, combining rapid pace and agility with elite aerial ability and power. Ronaldo was not born with those traits, though; the rippling physique we see today is a marked transformation from the skinny teenager that arrived at Manchester United.
- Michael Jordan
Michael Jordan took obsession to a whole new level during the 1980s and 90s. He was determined to be the top basketball player on the planet, and in the latter half of his career made fitness a top priority in his strategy of becoming the best. After employing his personal trainer Tim Grover in 1989, Michael Jordan set up The Breakfast Club with a few of his team-mates. The group would gather between 5am and 7am to workout in Jordan’s home gym before practice.
They made this a strict routine that they stuck to every day, even on match days, and always followed the workout with a breakfast – hence the name.
Conclusion
It is obvious that only a serious and consistent approach brings one the desired result. Consistency is key in living a diligent life. Having a strict routine that is in line with one’s goals and aspirations and sticking to it no matter the situation. Stars are not born, stars are made. It takes a rigorous process but the end result is always something worth celebrating.
