The Holy Bible teaches, ‘’Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.’’ (Prov. 22:6).
Charity begins at home, most of the ills in the society today is largely due to poor parenting, when you train your child in the right way he becomes a good ambassador of the family, he represents his family properly in the right way and in the world at large. If everybody cultivates the right values from their various homes truly the world would be a better place than what we have now.
I begin to wonder what my life would have been without my mother. She is God’s best gift to me. She taught me all the core values I know today and they have been very helpful to me in every area of my life both in my personal development and career development. Values such as Integrity, Humility, Tolerance, Hard Working, Love for one another, Kindness, Respect, Truthfulness, Discipline, Kindness and this is to mention a few.
These principles have been with me and anytime I am confronted with a difficult situation where I am finding it hard to forgive someone, I remember one of her popular saying ‘’To err is human and to forgive is divine’’ this is a popular quote by Alexander Pope in the early 18th Century[1] In every step of my life, my mother has always been there for me to encourage and support me no matter what the condition is.
Her dedication to the things of God, devotion, persistence serves as an inspiration to me and I know she is so proud of me and the woman I have become today. She is equally blessed to have a wonderful husband and great children.
My mother is a Nigerian, born into a family of six, she grew up in Lagos State Nigeria, she started her career in the banking industry with the then defunct Eko Bank Plc where she served and left remarkable footprints.
Our Mothers are usually not celebrated enough, I will always celebrate my mother, my mother is everything to me, she is my support system, she stays strong and motivates me during my high and low moments before I got married and even till date.
I remember while growing up we had a lot people, family relatives come to our house, you can hardly differentiate between us and my cousins. She treated everyone equally. I usually say to people if everybody in this world was like my mother, this world will be a happy place for everyone.
In conclusion, I will love to use this medium to appeal to all mothers and intending mothers in the world that training your child in the right way by teaching them core values such as Love for the other person, Respect, Fairness, Honesty, Truthfulness just to mention a few is the way of the Lord and it is the best thing we can do for the society. It is not easy but surely we can achieve our goals if we are determined.
