Spring steps to your future self

Once upon a time, I used to be unsure about my future. I didn’t know what to expect, what career path to choose or what life had installed for me until I stumbled on what I would say was arranged by destiny. 

Two years ago, I took part in a development program for females who wanted to advance their careers, improve their life skills, achieve work-life balance, set practical goals, and prepare for their future selves. If I’m being honest, at that point in my life, that was not the kind of program you would find me in. I was there because my previous employment demanded it, but reflecting back on it, I don’t regret it. 

Who you are in the future depends on what you do today. So the question is, “Can we plan for our futures when they are so uncertain?” In my quest to support my future goals, I came up with six mantras to live by. As inspired by the facilitator of that program I call them “The 6 Spring Guides”

1. Step out of your comfort zone

In order to grow and achieve the goals you have set out for yourself, the first action is to take that risk, start and get uncomfortable. You need new skills, habits, knowledge, and experiences to grow. Start small, take baby steps and don’t be discouraged or overwhelmed by discomfort. With time discomfort will gradually become less uncomfortable

2. Engage your heart, mind & might

A famous quote by Swami Sivananda says, “Put your heart, mind, and soul into even your smallest acts.” This is the secret of success. ” As you take those small steps out of your comfort zone, it is important to be extremely intentional and fully dedicated.

3. Resolve not to quit

As mentioned in step one, you will experience some discomfort from obstacles you may face, which is absolutely normal, but what you need to keep in mind is to resolve never to quit and never to give up, no matter what the situation is. Don’t stop at small failures, keep pushing and wait for the result. Time always proves itself.

4. Incline forward always

Don’t relent or push back. Instead, incline forward. Remember to always aspire for more growth and don’t remain neutral or stagnant. Master the art of moving forward, regardless of tough circumstances.

5. No looking back

Once you have decided to put all your might and strength into action by stepping out of your comfort zone and pushing forward, do not look back. The only time you need to look back is to reflect on your past errors and learn from them.

6. Go for the best version of you

We all have that version of ourselves that we aspire to be, but often think we can’t or never will be. Who says it’s impossible? That’s not true, so quit telling yourself that. Stop procrastinating and self-distraction. Instead, make a list of habits you need to stop and the tools you need to acquire. Believe in yourself. You are destined for greatness.
