Growing up is hard. Nobody can refute it. There isn’t a single rite of passage that doesn’t cause some level of anxiety.
“You are growing into consciousness, and my wish for you is that you feel no need to constrict yourself to make other people comfortable.” – Ta-Nehisi Coates
The scary thing about growing up has to be being responsible for someone other than yourself. You realize you’re no longer living for yourself and the choices you make to an extent determines the quality of your life and your relationship with others. I have never been great at handling major changes or taking tough decisions and I doubt anyone is. The life we live affects us all, the choices we make daily one way or the other affects our relationships and goals. As a member of a family, the responsibilities we have and the decisions we make affect not just us but the other members. I was talking to my brother last night about a certain decision he was going to take. I think I made my point clear when I said “think of 10-20 years from now, what you want and where you want to be. It should help you make the right choices now” just don’t think of now. Live for today, but always prepare for tomorrow.
Everything started with something; but that ‘something’ really came from nothing. You can achieve anything.
It is quite easy to go through life and not do anything at all. The only way to achieve nothing is to simply do nothing. So it’s sin to do nothing at all. Remember that anything great that will happen will be a result of your great effort or action. There’s no point in giving in to fear, people will talk, point at, analyze and even criticize you whether or not you deserve to. “Great people need to be criticized to maintain their greatness.” Be bold and stop making promises or wishes; start acting and planning, you have the head because you have to coordinate the body. You are the head of your destiny. Disappointment is a test of patience for a better opportunity. Now you know there’ll always be something better, bigger, and worth your effort. Learn from everything and challenge anything. Stop asking yourself the “whys” ask positively say ‘when’, ‘where’, ‘which’ and ‘why not?
