Self-discipline is important in any endeavor of life. Without it, success cannot be attained. Self-discipline is the ability to distinguish between what is profitable and what is not then, subjecting oneself to the profitable things. It is also denying ourselves of certain things (possibly personal habits) for the purpose of focusing on building ourselves (personality).
People lose a lot in life, for example – businesses, destiny, relationships and even life because of lack of self-discipline.
Self-discipline affects every area of our lives. From the food we eat, to those we spend our time with, to even the words that we speak!
For self-discipline to be attained, there needs to be self-actualization i.e looking inwards to identify those indiscipline habits in our lives and their negative effect.
One then needs to set certain standards for him or herself which we need to adhere strictly to and stand by. The set standards will become a guideline with which we govern our lives. Whatever stands against these set standards should never be identified with us, as this defeats the whole purpose for self-discipline.
The toughest part during self-discipline is having to deal with the change process of relinquishing a habit (which has been a part of you through your lifetime) and putting measures in place not to return to these habits.
The temptation to go back to these habits always arise. Once or twice, you find yourself defaulting but this is only normal in the process for self-discipline. Focusing on the result of giving up the habits and adhering to the set changes in-order to leave a better life should keep us going.
The Journey to self-discipline begins with self-actualization i.e looking inwards to identify those indiscipline habits in our lives and their negative effect. that need to change
Your discipline is what determines the outcome of your life. When you get yourself under control; it’ll affect everything about you.
An undisciplined individual cannot be value-adding no matter how much they desire or even pray for it.
