Thought Process!

Written by Adim Effanga · 1 min read >

I have come to the conclusion that we are what we think. Education only goes a step further to refine our thought process, to help us make better decisions. Taking action without first giving it a thought could lead to serious and irreversible mistakes in life. A thought is a torchlight that brightens the path of the man.

People (family inclusive) tend to judge others based on past, present behaviour or physically challenges. This conclusion inhibits the support that could have been extended to them in the form of education and skill development to enable them achieve their dreams. This ends up creating two kinds of people; those who get frustrated and retire to fate, and those that actually set out to achieve their dreams despite the challenges to prove to themselves and to the world that indeed nothing can limit a man that is committed to his dream.

In the Nature of Human Being (NHB) course, the movie: “Front of Class” made a big impression on me. This is a story of a young man (Brad Cohen) who had been struggling with a rare physical challenge (Tourette’s Syndrome) that impeded his speech. He was taunted and ridiculed by many, even his father was not sure he will amount to much. He lost friends and some relationships. But Brad was able to surmount all the challenges, pressed on with the pursuit of his dream job (Teaching), and guess what?  He eventually got his dream job!

I have met and read about people who despite all odds, surmounted challenges and achieved their dreams in life. These people first had a vision for their life, these thought process made challenges easy for them to manoeuvre. They saw the bigger picture and were ready to sacrifice whatever it took to achieve it.

While life is full of challenges, it is also wrapped with immense opportunities. As a person with an entrepreneurial mindset, I enrolled into Lagos Business School, to develop my management skills to enable me identify opportunities by solving problems profitably. My dream is to empower those with less opportunity to achieve their dreams in life.

My journey to entrepreneurship began by me questioning why things were where they were. This is from my teenage years. I have always believed in Proverbs 27:3 “As a man thinketh in his heart, so he is.” I have always believed that nothing is impossible. I have tried to make the best of the choices in life; to delay instant gratification. This sacrifice caused me a lot of relationships which of course, I do not regret. Studying at Lagos Business School for me is a dream come through. I have no doubt whatever, that it (LBS) is where my dreams will be harnessed and skills developed. All these started with a thought!

Final Note:

We must pay attention to our thought because only the limits of our mindset can determine the boundaries of our future. To develop and maintain a good thought process; we must be honest to ourselves, identify our goals in life, set boundaries, and of course, expect criticism.
